Future Film: Inside a One-Woman Studio with Alexandria Redmon
By day, Alexandria Redmon runs a corporate AI lab. By night, she makes AI comedy films starring sloths.
Most people who run AI labs do not go home and make sloth cinema. Alexandria does.
Through her creative alter ego, Here’s Alexandria, she writes and produces comedy shorts, music, games, and open-source tools. She understands generative technology from the inside, then uses it to make work that is funny, ambitious, and distinctively hers. There is currently no evidence that she sleeps.
This Tuesday, Alexandria opens the doors to her one-woman studio. She'll screen several projects and show us how she pulled them off:
Multi-minute oners that turn a series of short AI generations into seamless continuous shots
Agentic filmmaking workflows that send agents out to generate multiple versions of shots and help assemble them into a cut
Custom creative tools she has built for herself, including one that gives new footage the texture and imperfections of archival material without requiring a 47-layer effects stack
Alexandria’s comedy background includes sketch writing at UCB, writing and creative technical work on the UCB show Let’s Make a Website, and time in a writers’ room for a prospective A24 pilot. For professional editors and filmmakers, Alexandria brings an unusually valuable combination. She has the storytelling, filmmaking, and comedic instincts to create original work, along with enough technical depth to build new tools and redesign the workflow when the existing options fall short.
As creative roles continue to expand, her work offers a practical look at what becomes possible when one person can move between writing, filmmaking, editing, automation, and software development without losing the original creative idea along the way.
