Description:
Over the last three years, green banks, CDFIs, HFAs, and other nonprofit lenders have prepared to scale or begin green lending operations using capital from the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. With these dollars under threat from the federal government, these financial institutions are exploring new strategies that will enable them to continue with their plans to invest in green projects. During this hybrid event, Delivering for People and Planet: The Next Era of Green Lending, we will dive into how mission-oriented financial institutions are meeting the political moment through two panels: the first will focus on how lenders can adjust their capital strategy and operations to deliver during political headwinds, and the second will discuss how these strategies can be applied to the housing sector.
Panel 1: Against the Wind: Innovative Capital and Operational Approaches in Time of Uncertainty:
During the first panel, Against the Wind, speakers will discuss how mission driven lenders can adjust their capital strategies and operations to continue scaling climate investments despite political headwinds and the repeal of GGRF.
Panel 2: The Housing Opportunity:
The second panel, The Housing Opportunity, will ground our discussion around strategy to show how green banks and mission based lenders can continue to deliver green projects in a sector with strong bipartisan support. The housing crisis is affecting all corners of our country. How can green banks and other mission based lenders best fit in to deliver resilient, affordable housing while reducing energy costs? Housing finance stakeholders will discuss how innovative capital approaches can be applied in this critical sector and recommendations for green lenders looking to expand their work in housing.
