About CariSurg
A collaborative initiative between the University of Leeds and the University of the West Indies (UWI), CariSurg connects emerging Caribbean talent with global medical innovation. Delivered across 12 weeks through in-person (UWI and University of Leeds) and virtual tracks, the programme equips scholars to build accessible, affordable healthcare tools for low-resource environments.

Live Surgical Robotics: Direct access to the University of Leeds’ world-leading STORM Lab, featuring live demonstrations of magnetic soft robotics and affordable devices designed to expand access to minimally invasive surgery.
ED Triage Software: Live demonstration of the AI-assisted Emergency Department triage software designed by scholars during their 12-week project to optimise clinical workflows.
