Celebration of Life: Joannah Law
We are gathering to celebrate the life of our dear friend and family member, Joannah Law.
This will be a space for connection, reflection, and sharing the stories that defined who she was and what she meant to so many. Joannah had a rare way of bringing people together and leaving a lasting mark on everyone she met.
Throughout the afternoon, family, friends and fellow comedians will share memories and reflections. There will be moments of lightness, moments of depth, and above all, a shared appreciation for a life that was deeply felt and widely loved.
Many years ago, right here in Calgary, Joannah held a backyard comedy show to raise funds to support young single Moms and teen Moms, many who were fleeing difficult situations. Supporting women and girls through comedy was one of Joannah’s first forays into her work as an advocate and community organizer.
In that spirit, we invite you to join us for an afternoon of celebration and laughter. Donations can be made to Highbanks Society, an organization that helps provide young single mothers with a safe place to call home and a community that believes in them. A full circle moment in celebration of Joannah, a remarkable human being who always looked out for others.
This is an open invitation to anyone who knew Joannah, or who would like to come and honor her.
Come as you are. Bring a memory if you have one. We would love to have you there.
