Sprachcafé: Advent in Deutschland
Monday · 19:00 Berlin time · 1.5 hours · Online via Discord · 18+
Schön, dass du da bist! ✨
It’s officially Advent season!
🕯️ Christmas in Germany has its own vocabulary, rituals, and traditions: Adventskalender, Weihnachtsmärkte, Adventskranz, Nikolaus, Plätzchen, Glühwein... and somehow everything suddenly becomes gemütlich. 😄
But what is actually typisch deutsch about Christmas? How does it compare to how people celebrate (or don't celebrate) the season elsewhere? This week, we’re talking about Advent, Christmas traditions, and winter in Germany, while comparing them with our own experiences and traditions.
You don't have to celebrate Christmas to join. Whether you love the season, avoid it completely, celebrate something else, or simply enjoy German Christmas markets, you're very welcome.
🔒 This is a paid Sprachcafé session.
Join the community with a monthly subscription or through a collaboration.
💬 How it works
We’ll start with a short introduction and explain the rules together. Then we’ll play several rounds in smaller groups.
Here's what to expect:
💬 1.5 hours of German conversation
👌 Small-group interactions
📄 Guided questions, exercises & vocabulary
🇬🇧 English support, if needed
🌍 An international community
🎲 Games and activities to keep things relaxed
🌈 An open & respectful place for all backgrounds. 18+ only
You don’t need perfect German. In fact, forgetting a word, inventing a questionable answer, or discovering that you somehow know the German word for something completely useless is part of the fun.
All German levels are welcome!
