Triple Wisdom Online Monday Series: Traditional Medicine

Reusi Traditions: Knowledge, Practice & Reusi Dat Dton

Reusi (ฤๅษิ) is a Thai word that originates from the Sanskrit word ṛṣi ( ऋषि ). Within the Palī tradition the term used is isi. Ṛṣi means a seer or sage. When we look at Buddhist texts, we find that Gotama Buddha was a reusi in many of his past lives. In fact, he was practicing as a reusi during the lifetime of Dīpaṅkara Buddha, one of the Buddhas of the past who lived many eons ago. It was during this life, as Sumedha isi, that Gotama Buddha made the aspiration to become a fully enlightened Buddha.

In this season’s online medicine talks, SDY will give an in-depth discussion about  reusis including:

  • What is a reusi?

  • Different kinds of reusis

  • General overview of the practice of reusis

  • Specific reusis in the tradition and lineage

  • Knowledge which has been passed on by reusis such as medicine, astrology & reusi dat dton

Please join us for this opportunity to discover and delve deeper into this living tradition. All are welcome, no experience required. This series is an excellent introduction to the upcoming Reusi Dat Dton classes planned in North America, Latin America this September, November and in Europe next spring. More information will be announced in the Triple Wisdom Preservation monthly newsletter soon.
