VII PVC Meeting - From niches into the light
The VII PVC (Planctomycetota–Verrucomicrobiota–Chlamydiota) Meeting 2026 will bring together researchers from across the world to discuss recent advances in the biology, ecology, evolution, and biotechnology of members of the PVC superphylum. The meeting will take place in Jena from 31 August to 2 September 2026 and will provide an interdisciplinary forum for scientific exchange, collaboration, and networking.
The PVC superphylum encompasses a fascinating and diverse group of bacteria with unusual cellular organization, metabolic versatility, and ecological importance. Over the past decades, research on Planctomycetota, Verrucomicrobiota, and Chlamydiota has transformed our understanding of microbial cell biology, host interactions, evolution, and environmental adaptation. The meeting aims to highlight these developments and foster discussions on emerging concepts and methodologies in the field.
The scientific program will include keynote lectures, contributed talks, and opportunities for early-career researchers to present their work. Topics will span microbial physiology, symbiosis, environmental microbiology, genomics, cell structure, evolutionary biology, and applied aspects of PVC research.
Hosted in the vibrant university city of Jena, the meeting will also offer participants the opportunity to engage with the region’s rich scientific tradition and collaborative research environment. We warmly welcome researchers, students, and professionals working on all aspects of PVC biology to join us for three days of inspiring science and discussion.
The conference fee is 275€. The registration is open until the 30th of June 2026. After the registration is closed, we will send the invoices and payment information by email.
