Mother's Makan Myths: EP01 Asian Wellness
"Don't take cold drinks when you're having flu." "Eat more fish for your brain." "No chicken when you're coughing — it makes more phlegm."
Every family has a version of these rules. Mother's Makan Myths is an event series that explores the cross-generational beliefs and wisdoms of Asian wellness — passed down to us from our mothers, who learnt them from their mothers.
Hosted by Vidacity and Nottofu, with a menu curated by circular-concept café Bricolage, EP.01 gathers around the idea of Asian Wellness: the food rules, remedies, and superstitions many of us grew up with, whether or not we ever questioned them.
This isn't a fact-check session, it's a table-sharing conversation. Over a communal dinner, we'll swap the sayings we were raised on, hear where they came from, and see how they hold up (or don't) against each other. Bring your own family's version (literally, or as a story) - there'll be a moment in the session for guests to share the myths they grew up with too.
Come hungry, come chatty! Pull up a seat at a zero-food-waste, communal-sharing table: 3 dishes and a welcome drink, built for lingering and talking.
