The Partnership Approach

Sponsorships are one of the most sustainable revenue streams for independent journalists – but most of us were never taught how to land them.

This summer, Project C is bringing in media advisors Emily Dresslar and April Hinkle for a three-part workshop series designed to give creator journalists a real game plan for generating sponsorship revenue. They're drawing on best practices from success stories to help you build the knowledge and confidence to develop, prospect, and close valuable partnerships.

Session 1 lays the foundation. You'll learn how sponsorships fit into a broader revenue strategy, explore different partnership models, and get clear on your value proposition – what you actually deliver and what sponsors are really looking for. We'll also tackle the media kit question: do you actually need one?

Pre-work (due June 17): Audit your brand's current output – list every platform where you reach your audience and note your audience size, demographics, and what content is resonating most. (About 15–20 minutes of work.)

Part of a three-session series. Attend one or all three: June 24, July 1, July 8.
