How Do We Build Forward? From Scarcity to Abundance in Humanitarian Practice
The humanitarian and development sector is undergoing a generational shift, and Beyond Transition has newly emerged from it as a global builder-led community for people working in this space who are already thinking and working beyond traditional models.
The first Beyond Transition Live session asks a simple but foundational question: What changes when we stop designing humanitarian systems around scarcity, and start designing from abundance instead?

What to Expect?
In this introductory session, we bring together builders actively working in development, philanthropy, and adjacent systems to examine how scarcity assumptions show up in funding, delivery, and partnerships and and what changes when we design from abundance principles. The session will include:
Setting the foundation: how scarcity vs. abundance function as design assumptions in humanitarian systems
Case-based discussion: examining real examples from development contexts
Small-group working time and shared synthesis: share learnings and collective insights
Who It's For & Why Join
We welcome you to join us if you are a founder, builder, designer, or unconventional thinker working at the intersection of impact, aid, or philanthropy, especially if you are actively building or piloting new models for impact.
The discussion is meant to be intentional and thoughtful. Limited slots available.
About the Facilitators
This will be a collaborative engagement facilitated by Lameen Abdul Malik (Nobel Peace Prize Laureate), Sean Brooks (Founder, Tethered Up), and Melissa Saoudy (Founder, The Why), who collectively bring decades of experience across humanitarian, private, and government systems.
