🧠Quarterly European CDR Policy Workshop - UK & EU ETS Edition Part 2
Theme: What’s the optimal role for CDR? Implications for CDR integration into the UK and EU ETS
Date: 3 November 2026 | 16:30–18:00 CET
Location: Online (Zoom)
🏛️ About the Session
The Quarterly European CDR Policy Update, hosted by remove and Carbon Gap, returns with a follow-up to our February edition.
In this edition, we'll revisit the integration of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) into Emissions Trading Schemes (ETS). The Grantham Research Institute team returns with new research on a different question: once removals enter a carbon market, how should they affect the system's overall ambition, the cap? With the European Commission's July 2026 ETS revision now before Parliament and the UK taking its own approach, these design choices will shape both how much CDR is delivered and how far covered sectors decarbonise.
💬 What to Expect
This edition will feature:
→ A presentation from Josh Burke and Leonie Meissner (@Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment) showcasing new research on how CDR interacts with the ETS cap, including when a net or a gross cap works better and under which conditions.
→ Audience participation throughout - share your views, questions, and experiences directly with the speakers.
