CV Field Trip: The Dalai Lama: My Religion Is Kindness Film Screening + Director Q&A
📽️ Come join Community Village for a film screening and director Q&A at the Roxie Theater 🎞️
We'll be gathering at the Roxie to watch the film and participate in the Q&A, potentially followed by an optional group dinner.
"For many people HH the Dalai Lama remains an enigma. Almost everybody that meets Him seems to be touched, yet cannot explain what exactly it is that ignites this spark. In the documentary “My Religion is Kindness,” filmmaker Babeth Mondini VanLoo seeks to unravel that enigma...
...In honor of His 90th birthday the filmmaker creates with this documentary a kaleidoscopic view of the impact the Dalai Lama had in the Netherlands during His visits there since 1973. How did the Dalai Lama’s powerful counter-voice of inner peace and universal connectedness function as an antidote in a world full of polarization, war and conflict. The expressive and vividness with which the memories are recounted is striking: what is it that resonated so directly? His warmth? His embodiment of non-violence and compassion? His infectious laughter?
…In addition to preservation of the planet, the documentary focuses on the power of non-violence—a core value of the Dalai Lama—as a necessary attitude in a world struggling with conflict, resource depletion, and social inequality.”
Director Babeth Mondini-VanLoo will be there in person for a Q&A moderated by Gaetano Kazuo Maida, Executive Director of the Buddhist Film Foundation.
