Illich 100 - Coffee Morning for a Living Culture

​For the last 18 months, the Living Culture Coffee morning has offered space for people to drop in between 10 and 12 on the first Friday of the month. These are informal, in-person gatherings that aim to help regrow a living culture, building connection among people who are already interested in the spiritual aspects of social, political, and cultural action in support of change.

​September’s coffee morning will be no different - but will also be a space to celebrate Ivan Illich’s 100th birthday, as part of the global pattern of events initiated by Dougald Hine. There are dozens of events planned, over six continents.

​Ours will still very much be a coffee morning, and take its normal shape - an opportunity to practice conviviality - but perhaps even more consciously than ever.

​The usual invitation remains - “please bring anything that you'd particularly like to have or like to share with others. The best way is to think about what makes a café space feel convivial to you that you could easily bring with you (and probably take away again)”

​You are welcome if you’d like to acknowledge Illich’s centenary and you are equally welcome if you’ve never heard of the guy.
