About Event

Think differently about your research, your career and your impact

Entrepreneurial thinking is not just for people who want to start a business. It is an increasingly valuable skill for researchers seeking to create impact, drive innovation, secure funding, collaborate with industry, or explore careers within and beyond academia.

This interactive workshop introduces the foundations of an entrepreneurial mindset. It explores how capabilities such as opportunity recognition, creativity, resilience, initiative and problem-solving can strengthen your approach to research, innovation and career development.

Through practical activities and reflection, you will discover how entrepreneurial thinking can help you navigate uncertainty, recognise opportunities and create meaningful value from your research. You will also explore three potential career pathways: Researcher-Entrepreneur, Champion of Innovation and Translational Researcher.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Explore what an entrepreneurial mindset is and why it matters for researchers

  • Reflect on how your mindset can influence your behaviour, decisions and success

  • Learn practical ways to apply entrepreneurial thinking to research and real-world challenges

  • Identify the entrepreneurial skills and strengths you have developed through your research

  • Reflect on your motivations and identify areas for further development

  • Explore different career pathways and how entrepreneurial capabilities can support them of your skills and expertise to a range of audiences
