🤳 Attentional Artistry & Humane Computing with Welf von Hören [members & +1s]
Our digital world is overflowing with the hyper-palatable, supernormal stimuli, and with ever-more engaging content. Our attention is being undermined from all angles, and our digital environments aren't purposefully designed to protect it.
And yet, our ability to direct our attention is the key to everything we want in life. It doesn't just determine how we spend our time — it's the basic requirement for choosing who we become. It's at the heart of an intentional life.

Given the antagonistic dynamic between technology and our attention, we'll sense into the possibilities of a new kind of martial art: Attentional Artistry. From there on, we'll inquire into the philosophy and craft of Humane Computing.

Nov 17 - The Philosophy of Humane Computing: What are the implications of our co-evolutionary relationship with technology? What would it mean to steward the asymmetry of power between platforms and users ethically? What's in the users' best interest?
Nov 24 - The Craft of Humane Design: What even is Humane Technology? What are the foundational principles for human-computer interaction that are aligned with humanity's best interests?
