Event Overview

This online panel is part of Bonjour Girls’ Mental Health Series, centering on a thoughtful conversation about the different paths, pressures, and personal growth journeys of women working in the health & wellness space.

In this virtual session, we’ll explore the conversation between two roles that are both different and deeply connected: an entrepreneur in the health & wellness industry and a part-time life coach supporting others through growth and transition. Through their dialogue, we hope to unpack how these paths differ in terms of identity, work style, emotional labor, and purpose — while also revealing the shared challenges that come with caring deeply about both work and wellbeing.

Together, our speakers will reflect on their own personal growth journeys, how they navigate ambition and burnout, and what it means to build a healthier, more sustainable relationship with success. We’ll also explore a question many women face today: how do we juggle burnout while still pursuing meaningful work, and how do we find better mental health balance in the middle of it all?

We’re honored to welcome Ilene Chen and Elena Ren for this conversation.

Ilene Chen is the founder of Avera, a growth advisory firm. A corporate development leader with over $1B in deals closed across companies like Wellhub, the leading corporate wellness platform, and Zendesk, she also founded Power Up Foods, a health-focused snack brand. A fitness instructor and lifelong athlete, Ilene has built her career at the intersection of business and wellness.

Elena Ren is a life coach based in New York and currently works full-time as a Business Intelligence Engineer II at Amazon. Her journey has been anything but linear: she began in Finance at Wuhan University, then studied Developmental Psychology at Cornell University, where she explored human behavior and cognitive development, and later pursued Business Analytics at Columbia University. While these paths may seem unrelated at first glance, for Elena they were all part of a deeper search: how to better understand both the world and herself.

This event is for anyone who is curious about different ways of building a meaningful career in wellness, reflecting on personal evolution, or seeking a more honest conversation about burnout, ambition, and mental health. Whether you are building something of your own, supporting others through coaching, or simply trying to take better care of yourself while managing a full life, we hope this discussion offers both resonance and inspiration.
