Measuring Process Over Output: How AI Can Inspire an Assessment Revolution

“The College Essay is Dead,” proclaimed The Atlantic shortly after ChatGPT’s release in late 2022. Nearly four years later, higher education continues to navigate how assessment must evolve. At Blackboard, we see AI not as a threat to assessment, but as a generational opportunity to make it better.

This interactive session will explore how to modernize evaluation from all angles, including:

• Refreshing Bloom’s Taxonomy and authentic assessment to integrate AI.

• Designing learning tasks that incorporate AI and foster AI literacy.

• Embracing practices that measure true evidence of learning over single final artifacts.

• Evolving academic integrity strategies toward authorship and process rather than detection and blocking.

Attendees will leave with actionable steps to apply at their home institutions. Seats are strictly limited - reserve yours now.
