Ceiba Valley Farm Panel on Land, Farming & Collective Futures
Join Ceiba Valley Farm, a collective of eight queer, trans, Afro-Indigenous farmers and multidisciplinary artists from NYC, for a conversation on land, food, housing sovereignty, and collective ownership.
As first-generation Americans and migrants with no generational wealth, owning land once felt like a far-fetched dream. After three years of organizing, fundraising, and building together, we just closed on 16 acres of farmland in southeastern Connecticut!
Now, we're bringing what we've learned back home to the Bronx. We want to share with fellow Bronxites and Black and Brown communities how we did it, what it took, the challenges we faced, and how others might begin their own journeys toward land ownership and sovereignty.
Joined by moderator Qiana Mickie, Food Systems Leader, and special guest Nathan Hunter, Bronx-based environmental educator, land steward, and Foodway Coordinator with NYC Parks, we'll talk about Community Land Trusts, building with chosen family, and imagining futures where our communities have greater access to land, food, and housing.
Hosted by soft(spaces), we invite you to come with questions, share knowledge, and imagine what we can build together.
