DOOMYOGA: Gong + Sound Immersion with Kamellia Sara
DOOMYOGA GONG + SOUND IMMERSION
with Kamellia Sara
A gong bath unlike any other... Surrender to sound at The Mandrake.
Created by sound artist and meditation practitioner Kamellia Sara, this is a deeply immersive, visceral journey through sound, vibration and silence, designed to take us beyond conventional relaxation and into the transformative possibilities of deep listening.
Rooted in the ancient principles of Nada Yoga - the yoga of sound - DOOMYOGA draws on over a decade of exploration into the relationship between sound, the body and consciousness. At its heart is the practice of sonic surrender, an invitation to move beyond the thinking mind, relinquish the need to control our experience and discover the profound meditative states that can emerge when we give ourselves fully to sound.
Deeply restorative for an overstimulated nervous system, it also challenges what meditation can be, proof that stillness doesn’t always begin with quiet. As the final vibrations dissolve, stay with the silence that remains.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The session opens with a seated meditation, breath awareness and gentle movement through the neck, shoulders and spine, set to DOOMYOGA’s signature soundtrack of ambient, electronic and doom soundscapes. From there, lie back as crystal singing bowls and gongs build an enveloping field of resonance, overtones and shifting frequencies.
The gong offers no melody or rhythm for the mind to follow. Moving between delicate resonance and immense crescendos, it draws attention away from thought and into pure listening, where time, space and even the edges of the body begin to soften. There is nothing to achieve or perform. The sound becomes the meditation.
