HostRoom Raleigh: Community Builders Meetup is a recurring room for the people actively building communities, events, meetups, and real-world networks across Raleigh.
The topic for this month:
How to Build, Fill & Monetize Your Community
A room for community builders, event hosts, organizers, creators, and operators to meet each other and share what's actually working.
Not theory.
Not another panel where three people talk at you for an hour.
The room is built around the problems community builders deal with every month:
How do you fill the room?
Where do you find good venues?
How do you turn RSVPs into actual attendees?
How do you get sponsors?
How do you monetize without ruining the community?
How do you qualify the right guests?
How do you create formats people actually want to come back to?
And perhaps most importantly:
How do you turn a one-off event into a real community?
Hosted in a private area of a Raleigh bar, HostRoom is intentionally informal, social, and operator-driven.
The format includes 10 Community Host Hot Seats, where selected hosts get 2–3 minutes to introduce the community they're building, explain what they're working on, and share a challenge, insight, or opportunity with the room.
Then we open it up into a 90-minute community builders mixer.
The goal is simple:
Meet the people building Raleigh's communities and share what's actually working to build, fill and monetize them.

The first 20 minutes are intentionally open.
Grab a drink, meet other organizers, and find out what people around Raleigh are building.

A maximum of 10 Host Tickets are available.
Each selected host gets approximately 2–3 minutes to introduce:

This isn't Shark Tank.
There is no judging.
The goal is to quickly give the room context around who is building what in Raleigh so better conversations happen afterward.

Hosted by Amit Mohan
HostRoom Raleigh is organized by Amit Mohan, an operator and community builder who regularly organizes founder communities and events in New York City.
He currently runs two recurring NYC event formats:
Pitch Room NYC — monthly founder, operator, and networking nights hosted in private bar environments throughout New York City & now Globally.
Proper Room NYC — curated private panels designed primarily for Seed, Series A, and Series B founders.
Recent Proper Room programming has included Exit Regrets, focused on the decisions founders make before liquidity and acquisitions, with additional private founder programming hosted at the UBS building in Midtown Manhattan.
Amit has recently relocated his primary residence to Raleigh while continuing to operate his New York communities.
He's also previously built a 10,000+ member online Facebook community for ecommerce operators and Meta advertisers.
HostRoom Raleigh is an opportunity to take what he's learned building rooms both online and offline — while learning from the people already doing great community work throughout Raleigh.
The objective isn't to make Amit the expert in the room.
It's to get Raleigh's community builders into the same room with each other.
