Flip the Switch: The Sign Goes On
We signed the lease on this corner in 2017...tonight we turn the sign on.
The sign is made out of the old bar top from the Washington Square Bar & Grill. Same wood, same bar, back up over the door where it belongs.
At 7:33P we plug it in. 7:33 for 1933, the year Coit Tower opened four blocks up the hill — ninety-three years ago to the day. Come stand out front and watch it happen, then come inside and eat something.
Petite Lil's was supposed to be a soft opening. It ran 1,264 days. Tonight we stop calling it that.
Nine years of engineers, permits, concrete and patience, and the whole thing comes down to a switch and about four seconds.
