About the Hackathon

Join the Major League Hacking (MLH) team at RenderATL for Hack RenderATL - a hackathon dedicated to building technology that empowers local communities, solves real-world challenges, and creates positive change!

Whether you’re a seasoned developer, designer, product manager, or total beginner looking to see what hackathons are all about, this space is for you. You can build solo, come with a team, or form a team on-site!

This hackathon is designed to fit your schedule. You don't have to choose between attending RenderATL conference sessions and participating—hack asynchronously or use our dedicated workspace when it works for you!

🌍 Best Hack for Good Track: Build any tool, app, or platform that benefits your community, drives social impact, or makes the world a better place.
🎁 Prize: $250 donation to the charity of the winning team's choosing.

🍑 Best Use of Atlanta Open Data Track: Leverage local Atlanta public datasets to build solutions directly impacting the city and its residents.
🎁 Prize: $250 donation to the charity of the winning team's choosing + a cool gadget to take home!

Best Use of Render Workflows Track: Build using Render Workflows to automate background processes, schedule cron tasks, or power your app architecture.

🗓️ Event Schedule

📍 Location: 3rd Floor Expo Hall (Silicon South Area)
🎟️ Admission: FREE with your RenderATL conference pass!

Day 1: Wednesday

  • 11:00 AM: 3rd Floor Expo Hall & Hackathon Space Opens

  • 11:45 AM – 12:05 PM: Official Kickoff & Rules Presentation (Silicon South Stage)

  • 12:05 PM – 12:20 PM: Quick Team Formation Exercise (Right after Opening Ceremony)

  • 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Open Hacking & Technical Mentorship Hours
    (Feel free to come and go as you please or hack asynchronously between conference talks!)

  • 8:00 PM: 🚨 Project Submission Deadline on Devpost

Day 2: Thursday

  • 11:45 AM: 🏆 Awards Ceremony


💡 What to Expect

  • 🛠️ Dedicated Workspace: Round tables, power outlets, fast Wi-Fi, and a place to collaborate right in the middle of the expo hall.

  • 🤝 Mentorship On-Demand: Stuck on an error or refining your pitch? MLH and community mentors will be floating around to help.

  • 🎁 Cool Prizes: Fun gadgets and prizes awarded to top hacks across both tracks!

  • 🔄 Flexible & Asynchronous: Build in our dedicated space or hack on your own time—just make sure your project is submitted by Wednesday at 8:00 PM!

  • Do I need a separate ticket?
    Nope! Access is included with your RenderATL badge. No secondary scan or ticket purchase needed.

  • Do I need a team?
    No! You can hack solo, bring a team, or join a team during our Wednesday kickoff session.

  • What if I want to attend keynote talks and workshops?
    Go for it! Our workspace is open for you to drop in whenever you have free time between sessions.

  • Who do I contact if I have questions?

  • Do I need a team?
    No! You can hack solo, bring a team, or join our quick team formation exercise right after the Opening Ceremony at 12:05 PM on Wednesday.
