Three Monday afternoons with Donna Holmes of The Mahjong Corner. Eight women, one card, no experience needed.
Many women we know have wanted to learn mahjong for years. They have a friend who plays, or a mother who played, or they have watched a table from across a room and thought that looks like something I would love. Or maybe you're just learning about this game and can't wait to get started.
This is where you start!
Three Monday afternoons with Donna, who has taught more women in this community than we can count and is truly amazing at making a complicated game feel manageable. You will go from never having touched a tile to comfortably playing a full game.
101 is the foundation. The tiles, the card, the flow of a hand.
102 builds on it. Strategy, reading the table, the Charleston.
103 brings it together with full game play.
HERE IS THE PART WE LOVE MOST
You will learn as a cohort. The same eight women, all three sessions, all starting from exactly where you are.
Nobody is ahead of you. Nobody is sighing while you count your tiles. You will be confused together in session one, a little dangerous by session two, and by session three you will be calling mahjong and arguing about the card like you have been doing it for years.
Mahjong is not really a solo pursuit. You need three other people, which means the hardest part of learning is usually finding your group. We have taken care of that. Come as you are, and there is a very good chance you leave with your new mahj crew.
Afternoons are unhurried. Light bites, something sparkling, and enough time to ask every question you have.

You will walk out of session three with the official card in your hand and the ability to actually use it. That card is what every table in the country plays from.

WHO THIS IS FOR
Complete beginners are genuinely welcome. So are women who played years ago and want to shake the rust off. If you are already playing regularly, our league is the better fit.
Each cohort is the full three-lesson progression with the same group of women throughout. Please plan to attend all three dates, since each session builds on the last and your cohort is counting on you.
