The Blue Pivot: How Culture & Creativity Move the Ocean from Niche to Necessary
Every major threat to ocean health has a human decision behind it, which means every solution does too. Yet the field of ocean conservation has been quicker to map the ocean floor than to understand the people whose choices shape it. Even in London, a capital city on a tidal estuary just 40 miles from the coast, the sea is mostly out of sight and out of mind. Closing that gap is one of the greatest untapped opportunities in the field.
This panel explores how we can move beyond awareness to meaningful, sustained action for ocean health by strengthening the connection between people and the ocean. Speakers will highlight how storytelling, culture, and strategic communication can drive behaviour change and build momentum for ocean action, sharing personal insights and experiences in engaging diverse audiences from policymakers to businesses, creatives to communities.
The discussion will be led by Nicola Bridge, Head of Ocean Advocacy & Engagement, Ocean Conservation Trust.
Speakers include:
Laura McCutcheon, Producer & Director, Factual Producer of Dirty Business
Natalie Hart, Author & Head of Advancing Strategic Ocean Communication at Communications INC
Suzanne Dhaliwal, Artist, Climate Justice Activist, Co-founder & Director of Climate Reframe
Hosted by the Ocean Conservation Trust.
