​The Venture + Startup Gala is VC in DC's flagship fall gathering, an invite-only evening that brings the Mid-Atlantic's most active investors and its most promising startups into the same room during DC Startup & Tech Week. Now in its third year, the Gala is where the region's next rounds start: no panels, no pitches from stage, just the right people getting connected.

​Why we do this

​The Mid-Atlantic has never lacked capital or founders. What it has lacked is the room where they meet before the round is already priced.

​The companies built here solve problems that matter: defense and national security, critical infrastructure, healthcare, education, fintech, consumer, and the data layer underneath all of it. They should not have to leave the region to get funded.

​Finalists' VIP Reception, presented with Battle of the Regions

​This year the Gala doubles as the official Finalists' VIP Reception for Battle of the Regions, the Mid-Atlantic's three-state startup competition presented by District Angels, DC Startup & Tech Week, Inspire Access, and the Abell Foundation.

​Finalists advancing from the VA Regional (Aug 28), D.C. Regional (Sep 15), and MD Regional (Oct 7) will join us on October 21, two nights before the Championship at DC Startup & Tech Week on October 23. VIP gala attendees get a first look at the full finalist class before they take the stage: meet the founders, hear what they're building, and size up the field before anyone else does.

​How it works

​Attendance is by review. Investors apply and are approved. Startups apply separately and are selected by committee. There is no open registration and no general admission. Battle of the Regions finalists receive an invitation directly.
