❯ Dr. William D. Phillips is a Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics 1997 for the development of methods to cool and trap atoms with laser light. He shares the award with Dr. Steven Chu and Dr. Claude Cohen-Tannoudji. Dr. Phillips leads the Laser Cooling and Trapping Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is a Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland.
