Bookclub: The Creative Act of Starting a Business, Rick Rubin
The Creative Act of Starting a Business
A workshop inspired by Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act
Most people think entrepreneurship starts with a polished idea.
In reality, it usually starts with:
noticing
experimenting
following curiosity
making imperfect things
developing taste
This workshop is for students interested in:
creative businesses, side hustles, apparel, food concepts, events, media, branding, small business ideas, or simply learning how to start before feeling “ready.”
You do NOT need to read the book beforehand.
I’ve already done that part.
We’ll briefly recap key ideas from the book and then work through a series of fast-paced creative exercises together, including:
emotional energy audits
ugly first draft sprints
constraint-based business concepts
noticing and observation exercises
Expect a highly interactive session focused on creativity as a practical entrepreneurial skill.
No polished idea required. Bring curiosity.
