About Event

** This is a LIVE session and will not be recorded. **

Agent Hours is your chance to connect directly with literary agents, ask questions, and receive live feedback—all in an interactive session designed to help you level up your querying game.

This week, we're thrilled to welcome literary agent Ivan Mulcahy to Agent Hour.

You can submit:

  • A question about the querying process or author/agent relationships.

  • A query letter or pitch for feedback.

  • NEW: The opening pages of your manuscript (up to 700 words). These will be read live as if they were coming across an agent’s desk.

👉 Important: If you’d like feedback on your first pages, your submission must be in an area that falls within the agent's area expertise (see What Ivan Represents below).

How It Works

1️⃣ Submit Your Questions or Query Letters: Ticket holders will receive instructions on submitting questions or query letters upon purchase.
2️⃣ Show Up Live: Join us on Zoom for a 60-minute, ask-me-anything-style session.
3️⃣ Listen & Learn: Watch agents answer questions, share insider advice, and offer live feedback.

⚠️ Please note: While we aim to address as many submissions as possible, attendance and ticket purchase does not guarantee feedback. Priority feedback goes to London Writers’ Salon members (Silver and Gold). If time permits, we will turn to questions and query letters from ticketed attendees.

Perks for Gold Members 🏆

  • Priority Feedback: Gold members’ questions and query letters will be addressed first.

  • Recorded Insights: Can’t make it live? Gold members can submit their questions/query letters in advance and receive a private recording.

What Ivan Represents

Ivan Mulcahy works across a wide range of projects, with a particular strength in nonfiction. He regularly helps public figures and experts turn their autobiographies, memoirs, and subject-led nonfiction into bestsellers. His authors have published major works on economics, food, history, fashion, and human relationships, often with international success.

He also represents exceptional literary fiction writers, supporting prize-winning careers, and has recently begun to take on crime fiction. Some of his authors also write for film and TV, and Ivan enjoys working on projects with dramatic potential.

Writers may submit first pages from literary fiction, crime fiction, memoir, or subject-led nonfiction, especially work with a strong voice, fresh perspective, and the potential to reach a wide readership.

About Ivan Mulcahy

Ivan Mulcahy is originally from Dublin. Long based in London, he travels often between the UK and Ireland. His first career was spent with media giant Reuters, where he held senior management roles in London, New York, Stockholm and Dublin. In 2002, twenty years into that life, he made a radical career change, setting up his London-based literary agency. Entering publishing was motivated simply by a love of books. He has never for one instant regretted it.

Ivan helps public figures make their autobiographies or memoirs into bestsellers. He has a strong list of experts, across many different fields, whose books have become bestsellers. He also enjoys working on subject-led non-fiction books with successful people who bring a deep knowledge, an original perspective and a strong public reputation.

These books can be on any topic under the sun because Ivan enjoys learning from his writers. His authors have written major bestsellers on, for example, economics, food, history, fashion, human relationships and have been sold in dozens of countries. He has a great love of literature and is proud to help some exceptional writers build their literary careers and win prizes. In March 2024, Ivan was shortlisted for Literary Agent of the Year by the Bookseller.

Recently he has begun to represent crime writers. Some of his book authors are also scriptwriters for film and TV and he loves finding and negotiating those deals too.

You can read Ivan’s regular blog for writers about the book industry here.
