Field Notes LIVE
When do you feel most like yourself?
That's the question every Field Notes session starts with — the first of many, asked slowly, over hours, until people stop describing their jobs and start describing their actual lives.
When's the last time you went somewhere and got to be human first? A room full of people, present as themselves, before anyone mentions what they do.
We live in the most documented moment in human history. Everything is timestamped, tracked, posted. And yet the stuff that actually matters about a person — what shaped them, what they're still figuring out, what they keep to themselves — seldom makes it into any record.
Instead we keep meeting each other at the surface. We keep asking each other "What do you do?" and we remain exactly there — skimming, networking, performing. The real texture of a life passes quietly, off the record.
This is witnessing — older, slower, and truer than networking. At Field Notes LIVE, leave your title at the door.
Let's get deeper.
Who this is for
Somewhere along the way, what we do took over who we are. This is for anyone tired of that merge. Who wants to sit with a stranger and actually see them. Who wants to sit with themselves and actually hear what's there.
"I don't have the language to even describe what this is, but it is literally a feeling."
— Laura Welch Nevarez

The Day
Meeting people you wouldn't have met otherwise
What it is: A room of strangers, mixed on purpose.
What you get: You leave knowing people you didn't know this morning. What comes from that is yours.
The portrait experience
What it is: Lindsey and Aura will be on site to take portraits of you twice during the day, both before and after the workshop.
What you get: Two different portraits of yourself to use wherever you want! LinkedIn, IG, etc. A printed copy to take with you on the day of.
Space to connect with yourself
What it is: Time alone, on paper, with something you've been carrying.
What you get: You come back to yourself. That's the whole practice.
The whole point of this is to connect with yourself and connect with other people.

About Lindsey
Lindsey Lerner is a human first, photographer, interviewer and facilitator second. She started Field Notes from the Work (and the Wild) on a simple belief: when people feel seen, heard, and understood, they grow. Before this she spent 15 years behind the scenes — tour management, cultural policy, community building. Always the glue holding the room together. Her TEDx talk, "Why Doesn't Success Feel Like Enough?", asks the question underneath all of it. Now she's the one documenting what that actually means.
About Field Notes
Field Notes from the Work (and the Wild) is a living archive of lived experience, craft, and quiet labor. Most people tell the story of who made the thing. Field Notes tells the story of how the thing made the person — the routines, hesitations, and quiet decisions that shape someone long before the work is ever recognized. The outcome is rarely the point. The years that made someone into the person who could pull it off — that's what we keep a record of. This is a documentary and spiritual practice.
