Fire Cider and other Hibernatory Magic
Winter is coming! The cold and dark is hard, but also a gift. It reminds us we're animals entangled with the cycles of the living earth. Like other animals in cold lands, our bodies are telling us to turn inwards, slow down, quiet down, batten down the hatches, seek warmth and nourishment. It's hard to listen to that body wisdom in a capitalist working world that pretends like seasons don't exist and expects the machine to churn at the same pace all year.
Come through to this workshop to learn about how to make fire cider, an age old herbal elixir made from apple cider vinegar, honey, and many mighty plants. It blurs the line between medicine and food, as a tasty, fiery libation that offers deep support to our immune systems during the season of colds and flus. We'll make some you can take home!
We'll also talk about other practices and foods you can bring into your winter life to let your body rest and recharge and stay healthy as much as possible. Please bring your wisdom to share too!
This gathering will be at my apartment in Astoria! It'll be cute and cozy. Smaller group than usual. Masks are not required but are more than welcome. I have a very sweet dog, so if you don't dig dogs or are allergic, this won't be the one for you! I'll send my address after you register.
This workshop is sliding scale. $10 funds the materials needed for each person. $25 will fund your materials and those of a neighbor! :) Anything beyond that will put towards future classes.
If you sign up but later decide you can't make it, please let me know before the workshop so I know how much material to get.
