About Event

In collaboration with Aboard, Harvard's Public Data Project is hosting an event on October 22 from 4-7:30PM to discuss a toolkit that the Public Data Project is building, as well to raise awareness of the precarity of public environmental data. The gathering includes a panel featuring leaders in the field of public environmental data, to be followed by a reception to meet and reflect on what has been discussed.

Harvard Law School Library’s Public Data Project helps to solve the problem of environmental data’s fragility by building cutting-edge tools and interfaces that enable access, discovery, and monitoring of large government datasets. As part of its Data Monitoring Toolkit, it is employing emerging technology to explore large-scale automation to monitor data that is at risk of loss to the research and activist communities.

Panelists are:

Jack Cushman, Public Data Project

Gretchen Gehrke, EDGI

Alison Smart, Probable Futures

Abby André, The Impact Project

John Tolva, NY Climate Exchange

Moderator: Molly Hardy, Public Data Project
