About Event

The first Planning Commission hearing on San Francisco's new housing legislation. Show up. Give public comment. Help the room hear "yes" from the start.

This sets the tone for the rest of the legislative process. We need voices for more homes to be heard to ensure it passes! RSVP and we'll send you draft public comments to customize or use.

On Tuesday, May 26th, Mayor Lurie and board members introduced the next big piece of San Francisco's build-more-homes agenda: an ordinance to update inclusionary housing requirements and a charter amendment to expand affordable housing financing, so that the homes the Family Zoning Plan made legal can actually get built.

On Thursday, May 28 at 12:00 PM, the Planning Commission will hold its first hearing on the ordinance. Public comment will begin later so no need to arrive until 12:30 PM.

What to expect Public comment is 2 minutes per person. You don't need to be a policy expert. You need to be a constituent who wants more homes in San Francisco. We'll send you one-page comment drafts from different perspectives. Read them or customize as you like!

What the legislation does The legislation follows the unanimous recommendation of the Controller and the Inclusionary Housing Technical Advisory Committee. It lowers on-site inclusionary requirements to 5% for projects of 25+ units, exempts small projects under 25 units, and pairs with a charter amendment to expand the Housing Trust Fund to $125 million a year. The result: more affordable and market-rate homes actually get built.

Hosted by Abundant SF, in coalition with the Housing Action Coalition and SF YIMBY.

Build more homes. For a San Francisco everyone can afford.
