SCNZ - Special General Meeting (SGM)

​Startup Club NZ is holding a Special General Meeting on Monday 12 October at 5:00pm, online via Zoom.

​We are putting two changes to the club constitution to the membership. Both are short, both matter for how the club is run next year, and members vote on each one separately.

​Amendment one: four elected roles, the rest interviewed
Members elect the two Co-Presidents, the Secretary and the Treasurer. Every other exec role is filled through open applications and interviews rather than a vote on the night. Clauses 8.1, 8.1.1, 8.1.2, 11.1.5 and 11.1.6.

​Why: so the incoming Co-Presidents can pick and interview their own team rather than inheriting one chosen by a show of hands. Members still elect the four people accountable for the club.

​Amendment two: divisions of the club
A new clause 8.6 letting the Club Officers set up a division to run a specific programme, with its own team, under a written Charter.

​Why: so each major programme has people who only think about it, and nothing gets overlooked when the rest of the club is heads down on something else. The Officers create the division, oversee it and sit on its board.

​How the vote works
Registered SCNZ members only, one vote each. A constitution change needs 75 percent of those present and entitled to vote. We need at least 10 members in the meeting for quorum, so please come if you can.
