Coffee, Grip Test & Walk with Longevity Dublin
Our second Longevity Dublin morning kicks off a series on the five pillars of healthy ageing: exercise, sleep, nutrition, social connection and purpose. We start with exercise. Expect a relaxed round table, a quick grip-strength test and a walk along the docks if the weather plays along.
Why grip? In a study of nearly 140,000 adults across 17 countries, every 5 kg less grip strength was linked to about 16% higher all-cause mortality (Leong et al., Lancet 2015). It's a simple stand-in for overall strength, and strength is trainable at any age. You'll get your result against age norms on the free Longevity Cities calculator.
Bring a warm waterproof jacket, comfortable shoes, and a few euro for coffee.
FAQ
Do I need to be fit? No, everything is beginner-friendly.
Is the grip test required? No, it's optional and private. It's a fitness marker, not a medical test, so skip it if you have a hand or wrist injury.
What if it rains? We skip the walk and stay in the café.
Is anything being sold? No. Longevity Dublin is free and non-commercial.
Can I bring a friend? Please do. Ask them to RSVP too.
