​California is a global leader in life sciences innovation, anchored by world-class ecosystems in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego. As these hubs mature, rising costs, competition for talent, and infrastructure constraints are creating demand for complementary regions that can support innovation, scale, and workforce growth.

​The CAPBIO Summit is a first-year, region-building convening designed to build awareness of the Greater Sacramento biotech and life sciences ecosystem, articulate how Sacramento fits within California’s broader biotech landscape, and connect the people and institutions needed to grow the sector sustainably.

​Hosted at Aggie Square, the Summit positions Sacramento as an emerging translational and workforce-forward biotech hub linking UC Davis research, startup formation, industry partnerships, policy proximity, and inclusive talent pipelines. The event is intentionally scoped to prioritize meaningful connections, shared understanding, and actionable next steps, rather than breadth for breadth’s sake.
