Let's talk about Power Concentration!
As AI systems grow more capable, a small number of companies, governments, or individuals could gain unprecedented control over the economy, information, and decision-making. How would that actually happen, and what can we do about it?
What we’ll do:
Map the chain of events. We’ll walk through the steps that could lead from today’s AI landscape to dangerous concentrations of power.
Gauge the odds. For each step, we’ll discuss how likely it is and what would make it more or less probable.
Compare now vs. where we need to be. We’ll look at today’s safeguards (policy, technical, institutional) and the gaps we need to close.
Break out into debates and discussions. Small groups will dig into the most contested questions and bring back their takes.
