Cheat or Teach: Is AI Breaking Education or Rebuilding It?
If AI can ace the exam and teach the lesson, what is a school actually for anymore?
That's the question we'll sit with — together — for 60 minutes. This is an open group discussion. Chanel will set the table with two real case studies: the professor at Brown who suspected his entire class was quietly running on AI, and the Alpha School model, which builds the whole school day around it. From there, the conversation belongs to the room.
A lot of us here are parents, or thinking about becoming one. The point of this session is to leave with a personal stake in where education is heading — a clearer view of how it's actually changing, and a stronger sense of the role you want AI to play in your own kids' learning.
Chanel Johnson is the founder of Office Hours and an Upper School Computer Science teacher and Technology Integrator at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School, where she works at the meeting point of teaching and technology. A Brown alum, she's been sitting with this question for a while — and wants to think it through out loud, with you.
