Beyond Institutions: Rebuilding Pathways for Child & Adolescent Mental Health in Low-Resource Settings
On 15 July 2026, the International Health Charity Association (IHCA) will convene an international dialogue in Geneva, bringing together practitioners, researchers, NGOs, universities, and international organizations working on child and adolescent mental health across different regions and contexts.
This convening focuses on a central question:
How can we rebuild pathways for youth mental health beyond traditional institutional settings — especially in low-resource environments?
The programme will explore:
• Community- and school-based mental health support systems
• Youth emotional well-being in high-pressure societies
• Mental health in humanitarian and conflict-affected settings
• Family systems, education, culture, and social narratives
• Scalable models, cross-sector collaboration, and global mental health ecosystems
Confirmed participants currently include representatives and speakers from:
WHO, UNICEF, University of Cambridge, Boston College, Tsinghua University, Sangath (India), Shamiri Institute (Kenya), StrongMinds (Uganda), Friendship Bench (Zimbabwe), Glasswing International (Latin America), Wellcome Trust, and others.
Rather than a large public conference, this convening is designed as a focused and curated dialogue intended to foster deeper exchange among people actively working in this field.
We look forward to welcoming participants from across the global mental health, education, humanitarian, and social innovation communities in Geneva this July.
