About Event

This event is co-hosted with the Yale Club of Los Angeles

**NOTE: Venue change to indoor spot in West LA, convenient to the 10 and 405 freeways**

'Tis the season of love! And Chinese New Year! And Tet! What better way to celebrate than to WEAR RED at a mixer and book launch party for the groundbreaking new book How to Feel Loved: The Five Mindsets That Get You More of What You Want Most, written by our very own Prof Sonja Lyubomirsky (with love researcher Harry Reis). Pub date is 2/10/26, and the book is already listed on Oprah Daily.

In addition to being an upstanding member of the All-Ivy LA community, Sonja is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at UC Riverside and a pioneering happiness researcher.

Sonja's pretty low-key when she attends All-Ivy events, but I've known her for over 15 years now (see our 2011 interview) and let me tell you: she's kind of a big deal (read the NY Times Magazine profile here).

I've read an advance copy of How to Feel Loved. And as a Happiness Engineer who's been studying, writing, and teaching about happiness and love for 20+ years, I can say: this book is life-altering. It's a paradigm shift in our thinking about love and relationships, so I fervently hope it becomes a cultural touchstone. It has already enhanced my well-being, and can improve yours, too. In Sonja's own words:

"I can honestly say that this book is the best thing I’ve ever done in my career. My co-author and I spent 7 years reviewing decades of research in happiness science and relationship science, and we came to a simple but powerful conclusion: The key to happiness isn’t being loved; it’s feeling loved.

We introduce five mindsets—Sharing, Listening-to-Learn, Radical Curiosity, Open-Heart, and Multiplicity—that will help you to feel more loved in your most important relationships.! You’ll do it not by changing yourself, not by changing the other person, but by changing your next conversation."

Agenda
• 6pm: Doors open
• 7.30-8: Book talk/interview
• 8pm onwards: book signing and free mingling to practice the 5 Mindsets :)

In honor of Chinese Lunar New Year and Vietnamese New Year, we encourage you to wear something RED.

We will have books on hand for purchase (note that your ticket price DOES NOT include a book). You are also welcome to pre-purchase your own copy and bring it to get signed.

NOTE VENUE CHANGE: Due to expected rain, we will be indoors at The Rosegold Saloon in West LA at 11501 West Pico Blvd, convenient to the 10 and 405 freeways. The Rosegold has THE highest Yelp rating of any venue in town (4.9/5), serving creative cocktails, tasty food, and a whole lotta hospitality.

And for first-timers: Why attend an All-Ivy LA event, you ask? Here are some reasons that come to mind:

• You like having conversations with smart, educated, curious people. At All-Ivy LA events, In every direction of the compass, you will find someone interesting and welcoming to talk to.
• You want to make some new friends. We build relationships through repeated contact, so keep coming! Your next BFF is in here somewhere. Some people who met 3 years ago at All-Ivy are still friends.
• You want to find a life partner. Most All-Ivy members are single. What better place to connect meaningfully with like-minded people without dealing with the hassle of a date and the nonsense of the apps? This is the most likely place to find your future ex-spouse.
• You want to advance your business interests. Whether you're looking to raise funds, invest in a venture, find a new gig, or hire someone qualified, the All-Ivy LA network is a great place to start. Magic happens when a bunch of bright, ambitious, and kind people come together.

Recent guests have included: art dealer, patent lawyer, dental school prof, b-school prof, theoretical physicist, venture capitalist, biotech founder, multiple NASA and SpaceX scientists, public-health filmmaker, animal roboticist, luxury realtor, all kinds of grad students, and White House economist. In other words, hundreds of seriously legit people like yourself! Check out the latest photo album and our Instagram page.

Non-Ivy guests: You're welcome to purchase up to one extra ticket for a companion who's not an alum of one of the listed schools.

Parking: Street parking free after 6pm. Should be able to score free parking within a 3-block radius of the venue, on Pico or Exposition Blvd.

NOTE: NO REFUNDS. Pretend like you're going to a concert or the theater — when you buy the ticket, it's yours. If your plans change, you're welcome to transfer unused tickets to someone else or use it at a future event, but remember — NO REFUNDS. Your charge will appear as "ELITE COMM/ALL-IVY" on your credit card bill.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
