All-Ivy LA: The Writing + Co-work Sessions #6
To all writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, spec scripts, technical catalogs, or aquarium manuals: Join us for a session to hone your craft. Or just to get some words on the page.
We also welcome anyone who wants to co-work on a project of their choice following our format of silent concentration.
As a fellow writer, I understand the challenges involved in exercising the discipline to put butt in seat and just write. So that's what we're going to do: write.
We'll get together at 1.30pm at the big indoor table at Coral Tree Café to chit-chat, grab a bite or some tea. At 2pm sharp, we start the first Pomodoro clock. You will write uninterrupted for 53 minutes: no email, no phone, no talking. Just write. Then we'll take a 7min break to walk around the block, and do the same thing twice more.
At 5pm, after the first 3 Pomodoros are done, you have the option to either continue or wrap.
Chances are that you will get more writing done in these 3 hours than you do in entire weeks. Such is the power of distraction-free focus.
When you fill out the signup form, give a good think about which project you want to work on and why. That will help you get the most out of the session.
This event is under the auspices of the All-ivy LA Social Club, but is open to all writers serious about their craft.
