About Event

A safe place for women and non-binary changemakers (and aspiring ones) to meet one another;

A small-scale gathering where you can genuinely connect — and actually spend time working alongside one another;

A community where you don't just network, but show up as you are and participate equally as an agent of change;

A space to share what you're working on, exchange ideas, offer support, and spark new collaborations;

A tribe you can return to — to build trust, intergenerational friendships, and a shared sense of momentum.

This is what this gathering is about.

Co-hosted by Alvita Chen and Nyoman Sukmayanti (Sukma), and facilitated by Girls Be Change, this Women Changemakers Gathering is an intimate sharing table at Alvita's home in Jimbaran — where Nasi Goreng Bahagia is based — built around good food and honest conversation.

"Womentrepreneur" can sound like a buzzword — glossy panels, glamorous branding. This is where we go underneath that, into the real deal: the struggles, the vulnerabilities, and the moments that made it worth it. This gathering's theme is bravery: let's exchange our stories of bravery.

Nasi Goreng Bahagia was started by an unlikely trio — ex-corporate Alvita, her mom who doesn't speak Bahasa, and her brother who's on the spectrum. Alvita will share what it took to build this family business from that starting point — the wins, the mess, and everything in between.

Sukma's path has been just as layered, though it ran on a different track. She built her businesses, Bali Prime Travel (Tour agency) and Mutiara Chic (Pearl jewelry), while raising three kids, and has juggled it alongside multiple other jobs along the way — most recently four at once.

This space is for you if you're craving genuine connection over good food, if you want the real, unfiltered story behind two very different businesses — and if you believe honest conversation about both the wins and the failures is where the best support and inspiration come from.

This gathering is open to women/womxn and non-binary changemakers (and aspiring ones).

What is the Women Changemakers Community Series?

The idea began in the summer of 2023 when two changemakers in Hong Kong, Carmen Chan (Girls Be Change) and Dorothy Lam (Dream Impact), questioned and envisioned what an ideal community looks like. We need a safe place among women changemakers to have organic meetups, intentional conversations, and idea exchange with social ease — to find inspiration and encouragement from each other, and build authentic friendships and support networks.

The first Women Changemakers Community Gathering was held in Hong Kong on March 8, 2024 at International Women's Day. Ever since then, Girls Be Change has partnered with 40+ organizations and gathered 400+ women changemakers in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Kenya, Tanzania, Denmark, Malta, Peru, and the US. With 25+ gatherings around the globe, a vibrant community of global women changemakers has been formed and connected — raising questions, exchanging ideas, and celebrating wins.

Co-hosts

Alvita Chen | Nasi Goreng Bahagia

Alvita's experience spans policy, technology, and art. She began in trade and regulatory affairs, grew into corporate roles in Southeast Asia's leading tech ecosystem, and later led the establishment of a prominent museum in Bali. Today, she focuses on contemporary projects at the intersection of art and the environment, bringing operational discipline into creative contexts to make ideas both inspiring and executable.

Nyoman Sukmayanti (Sukma) | Bali Prime Travel

In a culture where gender stereotypes and traditional expectations often steer women away from entrepreneurship, Sukma chose to build her own path while raising three kids — proving that resilience and reinvention are powerful. Alongside 24 years as a personal assistant, she founded Bali Prime Travel, which she's run for 13 years, grew her pearl jewellery venture Mutiara Chic over 5 years, and most recently took on a role as Assistant Project Manager in property development — four jobs, all at once. Her journey reflects a rare adaptability and a refusal to be boxed into one identity.

Endlessly curious, and currently saying yes to (almost) everything!
