In this interactive session, we will explore self-awareness as a practical skill for the person behind the L&D role. We will look at what we notice in ourselves, what others may notice in us, and how the gap between intention and impact affects our communication, facilitation, and performance.
In the session, we will:
Recognize why self-awareness is often overestimated, especially under pressure.
Explore the gap between intention and impact in communication and facilitation.
Use the four CTRL awareness states as a practical reflection lens.
Receive practical awareness tips.
About the speaker:
Toby Newman is a Learning & Development Consultant with over 25 years of experience in the industry and the founder of the CTRL Awareness Model™. His work focuses on self-awareness, learning mindset, psychological safety, and the human side of development. He is currently building CTRL as a practical awareness diagnostic for individuals, coaches, and teams, helping people explore the gap between self-perception, behavior, and impact.
