About Event

You did everything right. You still feel like an outsider. That's Geneva — and it's fixable.

Geneva ranks 40th out of 53 cities worldwide for local friendliness (InterNations Expat Insider 2025). The cultural rules are invisible, the social walls are real, and the version of you that had colleagues, routines, and people who knew your name takes longer to rebuild here than anyone admits.

None of that is your fault. But navigating it faster is a skill — and it can be learned.

The ExpatHive Foundation Workshop — Online Pilot is a free 4-evening program for expat professionals and accompanying partners in their first months (or first confusing year) in Geneva. Four sessions, one arc:

Session 1 · Thu 30 July — The Psychology of Relocation The change curve, why weeks 3–8 hit hardest, and mapping where you are right now — so you can stop wondering whether it's just you. (It isn't.)

Session 2 · Mon 10 August — Understanding Swiss Culture The invisible rules: punctuality as a moral statement, silence in meetings, indirect feedback, trust that's earned before warmth is offered. Decoded and applied.

Session 3 · Tue 11 August — The Cultural Specificities of Geneva Why a city this international stays this reserved. Geneva's distinct worlds — and how to move between them intentionally instead of bouncing off them.

Session 4 · Wed 12 August — Building Resilience Amid the Most Frequent Culture-Shock Triggers The situations that reliably knock newcomers sideways, and your personal toolkit for each. You leave with a concrete plan, not a folder of notes.

All sessions 17:30–19:30 (Geneva time), live on video — interactive working sessions, not webinars. Cameras on, real conversations, small group.

Why is it free?

This is the pilot. You get the full program at no cost. In exchange, I ask for three things:

  1. Commitment to all four sessions — the program builds session on session, and I need testers who see the whole arc

  2. Honest feedback — a short debrief after each session and a final questionnaire

  3. A testimonial — only if you genuinely found it valuable

That's the whole deal. You help me sharpen the workshop before its full launch; the workshop helps you shortcut months of trial and error.
