Breathwork Meditation with Shannon Hawley
Transformational breathwork is a powerful active meditation technique that uses the breath to purge the body and nervous system of emotional debris. It can be deeply cathartic and has the capacity to move and transform stuck emotional energy. Practicing this three-part breath (with the accompaniment of intentional music and while laying down) bypasses the thinking brain, quiets the mind and allows us to drop into our bodies.
Practicing this type of breathwork invites a non-ordinary state of consciousness which can allow new neural pathways to connect. It can expand your capacity to hold yourself through triggers and activations with groundedness, grace and patience. It promotes self-understanding, self-compassion, and self-trust through nervous system resilience. Practicing breathwork can empower your FELT sense of self and your courage to step into the unknown. It can quiet the mind, connect you to your creativity, and increase clarity.
This session will include an introduction to and information about Transformational Breathwork, the benefits of practicing this active meditation tool (20 minutes) along with a guided active breathwork meditation experience (40 minutes) . There will be time for integration (25 minutes) and questions.
In preparation for this active meditation technique please take some time beforehand to set up a private space where you can lay down, comfortably, and uninterrupted for the experiential portion of the session. (on a carpeted/cushioned floor, bed, couch with blankets or whatever you might need to feel at rest). You will be invited to have your camera showing your lower ribs, chest, and head if possible. We will be listening to intentional music during the breathing practice, you can use headphones or speakers but please adjust the volume according to your preference.
