Starship Flight #8 watch party
Launch window opens at 7:30am Malaysia time.
NOTE: Rocket launches are notoriously unpredictable, so the launch could be scrubbed (cancelled) at any moment before liftoff. The launch may also be delayed up to ~1 hour. I'll monitor and move this event if there is a scrub.
Maximum excitement is during liftoff and the following 7 minutes, as the booster delivers Ship to space and returns to Earth for a dramatic chopstick catch attempt.
Then there is about 45 minutes of calm as Ship glides effortlessly above Earth at an altitude of about 200km (125 miles). Here it will practice deploying experimental Starlink-like test satellites and perform an engine relight test.
Then about 15 minutes of additional excitement as Ship returns through the atmosphere with dramatic heating and plasma glows, concluding with a controlled landing-like splashdown in the Indian Ocean.
I'll set up at 7am, and we can watch propellant load and chat while we wait.
