About Event

Overview This is a TTRPG (Tabletop Role-playing Game) group dedicated to trying everything that is not Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder. There are a bevy of unique games out there where you can be universe hopping teens on skateboards, Victorian detectives uncovering dark secrets, turn of the century common folk stumbling into Chthonic horrors, and so on. This group is dedicated to giving them a chance at the table. While the group is growing, games will be chosen by popular vote and played the day of the meeting. If your game isn’t chosen, don't worry! The games will be put into a queue with their current vote count and each week you can vote for a new game or add to an existing game's score. Games are removed from queue after play. Should the group grow larger, then tables will be split into multiple groupings using the top x amount of RPGs up for play that divide the player count by 4 (i.e if 12 people are present the top 3 TTRPGs will be run). If you're new, no problem! Newbies are the lifeblood of hobbies. Sit down and join us, we don't bite (unless we're playing Vampire: The Masquerade). If you don't have dice, the shop sells them or someone can loan you a set until you're dedicated enough to buy your own.

Rules

.) Respect the FLG (Friendly Local Game store). They have posted rules and we should abide by them at all times. They have specifically asked me to call out PG-13 language only. There are kids in the store sometimes and they do not need to hear about the virtues of your +#!€@$$ %^&# going %×=#@. Also, if you wish to try a new TTRPG you've heard about, try to purchase from the FLG first; they're kind enough to host us, you should be kind enough to give them right of first refusal over Amazon.

.) Don't be rude. Don't poke and prod other players to get a rise. Your character can mess with other characters but what happens in-game, stays in game.

.) No bigotry, misogyny, racism, homophobia, etc. See rule 2.

.) Respect the GM and other players. They put a lot of work into building this game for you. Put your phone away and participate actively (accommodations can be made for neurodivergencies, of course.)

.) If it is your game up for play, have quick-reference and character sheets ready to go. It's okay if you are not GMing but you must have a GM identified and prepared to teach and run the game.

.) If you leave because your game is not chosen your game will be removed from the queue. Group decisions must be respected and selfishness over choice of game is not tolerated. Frustrations are valid but being a poor sport is not.

.) Have fun but don't trample others to do it. A character will do what a character will do but Leeroy Jenkins-ing, murder hoboing, and general foolishness because "it's what my character would do" is discouraged. Use your judgement for this but remember, jack-assery is only fun if everyone can do it.

.) No rules lawyering. This does not mean everyone should be allowed to break the rules or that the GM's (Game Master) word is law. It does mean sometimes rules will be bent for the sake of the game or others will have a different interpretation of the rules. If there is an honest issue or question on a rule, that is still on the table. But don't stop the game because you read subsection 12 of footer 2 and feel the need to correct how a party member's brooding cleric leans against a wall.

.) Don't be a heckler. TTRPG's are a group creating a story in real time. There will be plot holes, hooks, and leads. Embrace them. Jank is a feature not a bug.

.) Speaking of, should go without saying, PLAY THE GAME. Don't keep brooding on your wall when you hear an outhouse explode. If engaging with the story isn't what your character would do, then they aren't really a character are they? You can handle a plot hook in a unique way (investigate, build a new outhouse, hide the rest of your dynamite) but the only forbidden action is inaction.

.) Be honest. Fudging rolls or just trying to skirt the rules in general can ruin the fun for the rest of the table.

.) Please, report issues to the GM or a trusted player. It could be as simple as requesting no clowns in game due to coulrophobia or as complicated as verbal assault but please know that no one should feel uncomfortable here.

.) Be understanding. Some players are new and others are experienced. Give new players time to think and allow the person helping them to help them, if need be. No one thinks well with a wall of text dropped on their skull.

.) There are only leaders not main characters. There will naturally be a team leader but that does not mean that person is allowed to turn this into a fan fic about how their brooding cleric learned to love leaning against walls.

.) Finally, relax and be your character's self. Let loose. Be creative. See what happens when you pour acid on a brooding rock that turns out to be a cleric or animate an outhouse or explode an outhouse beside a brooding cleric sitting on a rock . It's all about living in a weird world, so live it.
