About Event

What makes someone a Berliner? Is it where you were born, how long you’ve lived here, or the moment you begin to feel that you belong? In this six-session course, we will explore Berlin’s identity through the people who have made, remade and claimed the city as their own. Short, engaging introductions to Berlin’s history and culture will provide starting points for conversation and reflection. Just as important will be the experiences in the room. Through guided discussions, we will explore questions such as What makes a place feel like home? The course deliberately brings together newer and longer-established Berliners, creating an opportunity to learn both about and from one another. The course will be taught in English and will give non-native speakers the opportunity to practice their English in a relaxed yet stimulating environment. International participants will gain a deeper understanding of Berlin’s history, culture and sometimes puzzling local codes. For everyone, the goal is to leave with new perspectives and new connections, and new answers to the question of who gets to be a Berliner.

Anmerkung: Diese Version des Kurses ist bereits ausgebucht. Bei Fragen oder Interesse an ähnlichen Kursen können Sie sich gern bei der Dozentin Katrin Völkner unter katrin@kiezkolleg.de melden.
