Anticipation Intelligence (AQ) - an introduction
You already have the ability to anticipate the future. Most of us just haven't been taught how to develop it.
Anticipation Intelligence (AQ) is the idea that this capability — to spot change, read uncertainty, and feel more prepared for what's coming — is something we can all consciously grow. This 2.5 hour workshop is a practical, introductory starting point for doing exactly that.
Hosted in a beautiful space in central London, we're excited to be bringing this in-person for the first time, after running it online for several years.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
You will learn how to:
Differentiate the three ways your brain thinks about the future
Spot your blindspots so you can see the future more clearly
Notice signals of change so you can start spotting the future in the present
“I would say that I am someone who ruminates quite a lot about what may or may not happen in 1, 2, 5, 10, 50 years from now, [but] this workshop was the first time in months that I actually did any real analytical thinking about the future! Through examples, anecdotes, facts and gentle nudging, Leila has kickstarted my development of a much more thorough, investigative way of thinking about the future; I am now more aware of my blindspots and able to test my own assumptions in a way that I didn't before..."

ABOUT ANTICIPATION INTELLIGENCE (AQ)
Anticipation Intelligence (AQ) is a term coined by Leila Varley and Shirin Elahi, based on their collective decades of experience helping individuals, not-for-profits, global corporations and multilaterals deal with the future. AQ is truly interdisciplinary. It brings together futures and foresight studies, psychology and risk perception, complexity and systems thinking, organisational and strategic management and many more disciplines.
ABOUT LEILA VARLEY
Leila has spent her career helping individuals, small businesses and global organisations to solve big problems, navigate the unknown and think creatively and strategically about the future. Her background is as a foresight consultant, exploring projects as diverse as the Future of Work and the Future of Wisdom; as well as teaching foresight at universities, organisations and through public workshops. She cares about democratising foresight - making these ways of thinking available beyond large institutions, that that more people are equipped to navigate an uncertain future.
