Meet the Candidates

Vanessa Nordyke A current Salem City Councilor and an attorney with the Oregon Department of Justice, Vanessa Nordyke has dedicated her career to public service and mental health advocacy. As a past president of the Oregon State Bar, she brings a deep understanding of policy and law. Her platform focuses on community resilience, expanding the social safety net, and finding sustainable solutions for housing and public safety.

Julie Hoy A local business owner and former City Councilor, Julie Hoy is known for her deep roots in the Salem community as the proprietor of Geppetto’s Italian Restaurant. Her campaign emphasizes "common-sense leadership," focusing on fiscal responsibility, supporting the local business climate, and prioritizing public safety and infrastructure to ensure Salem remains a vibrant place to live and work.

  • Ellen Yin: A powerhouse in the marketing and business world, Ellen is the founder of "Cubicle to CEO." Her expertise in communication and strategic growth ensures a sharp, focused discussion on the economic and social health of our city.
