Creaturely Circles: Breathe, Move, Reflect | Chi-Gong for Courage and Collective Care
In this Creaturely Circle, Dr. Janani Dhinakaran will offer us the gift of Chi-Gong - an ancient eastern practice that involves rhythmic, flowing movements coordinated with breathing. (Even if you haven’t heard of Chi-Gong, you probably have heard of its charismatic cousin Tai-Chi, that builds on the same principles) Janani will guide us to come home to our bodies, and feel the remarkable grounding and calm that the practice brings about.
This is not just a wellness workshop though! We are hoping for a little more here.
For when we hear about wellness and embodiment, we think of feel-good packages for individual people’s individual problems, individual optimization for an entity that ends at the margins drawn by the skin.
But does it?
As Somatic educator Abigail Rose Clarke says,
“What if embodiment wasn’t just about you? Not just about feeling better, regulating more, or optimizing your system, but about how you show up in relationship. How you relate to other people, to your environment, and to the wider systems you’re a part of?”
Can we stretch open our vision of embodiment?
Join us as through Chi-Gong and guided reflection, we look at big questions with a soft gaze - a gaze that comes from a body that includes Earth and Sky.
